  • Recordings are made and kept on your device — nothing is uploaded

How it works

Recording a quick voice note, an interview or a rehearsal from a browser tab is convenient precisely because there is nothing to install. The question worth asking of any such site is where the audio goes. Here it goes nowhere: the recording is assembled in the page and handed straight back to you.

Permission, and what it means

Your browser will ask to use the microphone, and it will show an indicator while recording. That permission is between you and your browser — the audio stream is processed in the page and never transmitted. Refusing it simply means there is nothing to record.

Where the recording lives

In memory, in this tab. It is not saved anywhere automatically and it is gone when you close or reload the page. Download it before you leave — there is no recovery, because there is no copy.

Format

Recordings are saved as WebM with Opus audio in most browsers, which is efficient and plays in browsers and most modern players. If you need an MP3, run the result through the audio converter on this site.

No time limit, with one practical caveat

Nothing is imposed, but the whole recording is held in memory, so a very long session on a low-memory device will eventually struggle. For hours of continuous audio, a dedicated recorder app is the better tool.

FAQ

Voice recorder — questions

Is my recording uploaded?

No. It is captured and assembled in the page and never transmitted.

Where is the recording saved?

Nowhere until you download it. It lives in the tab and is lost on close or reload.

What format do I get?

Usually WebM with Opus audio. Use the audio converter if you need MP3.

Is there a time limit?

None imposed. The practical limit is your device's memory, since the recording is held in the page.
