Screen recorder
Record your screen, a window or a tab, with no software to install.
- Recordings are made and kept on your device — nothing is uploaded
- No sign-up, no quotas, free to use as often as you like
How it works
Screen recording is normally a reason to install something. Browsers can do it natively, which means a bug report, a demo or a walkthrough can be captured from a tab — and the recording never has to touch anyone's server.
Choosing what to record
Your browser presents the picker: an entire screen, a single application window, or one browser tab. Tab sharing is the tidiest for web demos because notifications and other windows cannot appear in the recording. The browser also offers to include audio, which for a tab means the tab's own sound.
Recording your voice as well
This captures the source you pick and whatever audio the browser offers with it. Narrating over the recording needs the browser to include system or microphone audio, which not every browser and platform supports. If you need reliable narration, record the screen here and your voice with the voice recorder, then combine them — though the audio tools on this site join rather than overlay, so a dedicated editor is better for that.
Browser support is uneven
Chrome, Edge and Firefox support screen capture properly on desktop. Safari's support is partial and mobile browsers generally do not offer it at all, because phones handle screen recording at the operating system level instead.
Where the recording goes
Into memory, in this tab. Nothing is uploaded and nothing is stored. Download it before you close the page. Stopping the share from the browser's own bar ends the recording cleanly.
Screen recorder — questions
Do I need to install anything?
No. Screen capture is built into the browser; this page just records what it provides.
Is my recording uploaded?
No. It is assembled in the page and never transmitted.
Can I record my voice over it?
Only if your browser offers microphone or system audio with the capture, which varies. Otherwise record audio separately.
Why does it not work in my browser?
Chrome, Edge and Firefox support it on desktop. Safari is partial and mobile browsers generally do not offer screen capture to web pages.
