How it works
Branding a video with a logo is the visual equivalent of signing it. It belongs on anything being posted where it will travel, and it is a job the free tools usually charge for or stamp their own mark alongside.
Use a transparent PNG
A PNG with a transparent background sits on the footage cleanly. A JPEG logo carries its own white or coloured rectangle, which looks like a sticker. If your logo is a JPEG, the background remover on this site will cut it out first.
Sizing and placement
The width is set as a share of the frame, so the logo looks the same on a 720p clip and a 4K one. Around 10 to 15% is the usual broadcast convention — visible without competing with the content. Corners keep it out of the way; the centre is a deterrent rather than a credit.
Opacity
A fully opaque logo asserts ownership; a slightly transparent one is less intrusive. Around 80% is a reasonable compromise for footage you want credited but not dominated.
Quality
The logo is scaled on your device before it reaches the encoder, so transparency and edges are preserved exactly. Only the picture is re-encoded; the soundtrack is copied across untouched.
Add a logo to a video — questions
What image format should the logo be?
A PNG with transparency. A JPEG will bring its own rectangular background with it.
How big should the logo be?
Around 10 to 15% of the frame width is the usual convention.
Does the sound get re-encoded?
No. The audio is copied across untouched.
Is my video uploaded?
No. Everything runs in your browser.
