How it works

Scanners and fax software still produce TIFF, and nobody wants to receive one. Wrapping the scans into a PDF makes them openable by anyone, in order, as a single document.

Page size

Matching each image keeps every page exactly the proportions of the scan, which is right when the scans are already consistent. Choosing A4 or Letter fits each image onto a standard page with a small margin, which is right when you intend to print, or when the scans are a mix of sizes and you want something tidy.

The pages are pictures

This wraps images; it does not read them. The resulting PDF has no selectable or searchable text. If you need to search it, run the result through the scanned-PDF OCR tool, which adds a text layer underneath the picture and also runs on your device.

Multi-page TIFFs

A TIFF that holds several pages internally contributes its first page only. If you have one of those, splitting it into separate files first is the way to get every page in.

File size

Scans are large, and a PDF of scans is larger still. If the result is unwieldy, the Compress PDF tool will bring it down substantially, at some cost in sharpness.

Can I control the page order?

Yes. Pages follow the order you add the files.

Does it handle multi-page TIFFs?

Only the first page of each. Split them into separate files first.

Which page size should I choose?

No. Everything happens in your browser.
