How it works
Joining audio comes up with recordings that arrived in pieces: an interview split across several files, a lecture recorded in parts, voice notes that belong together. It is a simple job made awkward by the fact that the pieces rarely match each other technically.
Mismatched files are handled
Recordings from different sources often differ in sample rate, channel count or bitrate. Simply concatenating them produces garbled or speed-shifted audio. This decodes everything and re-encodes it as one consistent track, which is slower but is the only approach that reliably works.
Order
Files are joined top to bottom in the order the list shows. To reorder, remove a file and add it again at the end.
No gaps or crossfades
The tracks are butted directly against each other with no silence inserted and no fade between them. If you need a gap, that is editing rather than joining, and a dedicated audio editor is the right tool.
Limits
Up to 20 files at a time. Everything has to be held in the browser's memory at once, which is the real constraint.
Merge audio files — questions
Can I join files of different formats?
Yes. Everything is decoded and re-encoded into one consistent MP3.
How do I change the order?
Files join in the order listed. Remove a file and add it again to move it to the end.
Does it add silence between tracks?
No. They are joined directly, with no gap and no crossfade.
Are my files uploaded?
No. The join runs in your browser.
